Hi. This is the version of me who ran through a literal storm last week. In this picture, I am clearly and completely soaked, as if I had jumped into the lake that I was walking around. But I didn’t jump in the lake. The skies opened, and out poured a storm. When it hit, [… click here to read the full story …]
Jesus said this: “But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
You are an overcomer. You may be storm-stained, weary from the battle. But you know what? You are not knocked down. You are not destroyed. You are brave, and our God is an irrepressible force within you.
Whatever storm you are in this week, may you have the courage to take the next step, and then the next step after that.
The way out of the storm is THROUGH. One step at a time.
There are many opportunities to remember God’s storm stories in the midst of trials. Bible Gateway also has a great blog posted that relates:
. . . “One day God revealed himself to Elijah the prophet in an unusual way:
“Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, ‘What are you doing here, Elijah?’” (1 Kings 19:11-13).
God is not a storm, but storms do remind us that there are forces so much stronger than us. A strong storm is a reminder that we need a God who is stronger than the storm:
“The seas have lifted up, O LORD, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves. Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea—the LORD on high is mighty” (Psalm 93:3-4).” – Read this blog at: https://www.biblegateway.com/blog/2012/10/what-the-bible-says-about-storms/
Father, we thank You, not matter what the physical, spiritual or mental storm is that we are experiencing, that YOU ARE ALREADY in it. This year the term “God is in the Chaos” has come up frequently. It has allowed our ION Prayer Teams to remember back to the accounts in His Story of God’s faithfulness to be right there with us. We say, “We will rest in Your Faithfulness as the storm seems to be upon us and trust in You.” In Jesus name. Amen.
Can we stop today and think of the storm stories that allow us to call upon the One spoken about in Matthew 8:27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” — ION Prayer Team
